These appliances take on big costs in terms of energy consumption. Thanks to some ingenuous people, they find a way to cut the cost of energy consumption. Let's take a look on some of the energy saving devices offered in the market today.

Save on water consumption by installing a Circulation Pump. In order for the user to get hot water, he has to push a button attached on the basin cabinet. The switch then takes on the pump that would draw water from a hot water tank. This would concurrently push the cold water to the pipes inside going back to the tank. Good thing about this is that when the pump senses that the hot water has arrived at the sink, the pump automatically shuts off. In this case, both the water and the energy are saved because instead of allowing the water to run until it gets hot, the pump is the one which does the transportation of the water from the heater.

Another device could be installed to reduce the consumption of hot water. A Pedal Valve could be installed at the kitchen sink. This is operated by stepping on the pedal. The foot operation would then allow the water to flow from the spigot. This could be done even without turning on regular faucet controls. This valve would cut the waste of water during washing tasks.

A Heat-Pump Water Heater is another device designed to cut the energy consumption of water heating. In this case, the water-pump water heater works like the back of a refrigerator. But instead of releasing the heat inside the house (that would generate heat inside), the pump gets the heat of the house and deposits it to the water heater.

Lighting is a must everywhere in the house, which is why the T-8 and T-5 bulbs attached under the cabinets, is introduced. The soffit-mounted cabinet lights and fluorescent under the cabinet lighting now substitute the incandescent lighting installed in kitchens and other rooms. What's good about this type of lighting system is that it does away with the shadows caused by the cabinets.

A standard exhaust fan use 100 watts, but the energy-saving exhaust fan use only 20 watts and gives out the same volume of air delivery. Another thing about these fans is that it uses a light panel with a compact fluorescent bulb. These types of bulbs are also energy savers. These fans are also quieter when running than other exhaust fans. Now that's a bonus!

The gas fireplace added with some special devices could be used as home heaters. Optional ducts have to be added to transport hot air everywhere in the house. Instead of the chimney, the exhaust could be channeled through an exhaust opening that is cut on an exterior wall. This is because the unit is directly vented.

In order to do this a frame should be built. A hole should also be cut on the exterior wall together with the installation of a gas line and an electrical wiring.

When the exterior wall is already cut, a fire-stop should be installed. This would defend the drywall from extreme heat. The fire-stop is placed on the hole on pre-drilled holes using drywall screws. After that, the fireplace should be slid into the rough opening. A first vent pipe, with a fiberglass collar, should be installed on top of the fireplace. The pipe is twisted and locks into place. A 90-degree elbow is to be installed on top of the first vent-pipe section.

The last interior vent pipe is to be connected to the elbow. Outside, a shot vent-pipe should be running through the opening. It should be installed with a termination cap. This is to be placed at the end of the vent pipe and should be fastened to the exterior wall. After doing this, the fireplace should be fastened to a wood frame with screws. The gas line should also be connected and after that tested. After testing, the fireplace should be wired to the home's thermostat. This should be done in accordance to the manufacturer's instructions.

These are just some of the energy-saving devices on the market. But these devices should not be made a reason to be a wastrel. These are just devices that would help lessen the consumption and cutting on the consumption costs still depends on the use of such appliances.
